I'm once again at work watching the clock tick by. Yesterday went pretty fast but then again I had the office to myself.
The house phone rang at 7:20 this morning. S got up to answer. It was my work. No one had opened the store at Cascade and Forest Hill and the counter clerk had no one to send.
I scrambled around and got ready. Left my house at 7:45 and arrived at work at 8:00. Grabbed a key and headed to Cascade. Another clerk scheduled in at 8:00 was there waiting. I hung around and waited on customers until she had the money in the drawer.
Drove myself back across town to Kentwood. Stopping for gas along since I was at the bottom of the red and knew that at any time my gas light would come on. Got back to the office just before 9:00.
The girl that was supposed to open had overslept. Due to her lack of making in to work on time lost her Thanksgiving day pay. Another clerk failed to show at the other Cascade store for her 10-6 shift. So she lost herself her holiday pay as well. And possibly her job if we do not hear from her.
Needless to say I am ready to go home and enjoy the rest of my day.
