S scared the daylights out of me last night. Keep in mind it was dark, he drove his motorcycle, Michigan is 2nd in nation for car/deer accidents, and it's well past when he is usually home from work. Here's how it went down.
I left the dance studio at 8:18pm, called his cell phone, to see what he was up to and have him throw some chicken on the Foreman Grill, no answer. Dialed the house phone, no answer. So I assume he is away from his phone or possibly on his motorcycle on his way home.
I arrive home, surprised to not find him home. He is usually really good about calling me or texting me to let me know what he is up to and approximately when he'll be home. I'm not some control freak of a wife demanding to know his constant whereabouts. If he wants to stop off for a beer with the guys after work I have no problem with that. It's just nice to have a heads up so that I can 1) figure out dinner and 2) not worry.
So now it's 8:57pm I change out of my dance clothes, start dinner, and send him a text saying "call me". No response. I'm now starting to get worried and have all kinds of horrific thoughts going through my mind.
I decide to wait another 20 minutes (in case he was on his way home) and then I was going to give my mom a call to see what I should do. By now I've already checked two local internet sites to see if there were any reported accidents on the road and I'm so nerved up that I knew making dinner was a waste of time except that it was helping me to not totally lose it.
At 9:20, on the verge of tears, I give his cell phone one more call and HE ANSWERS! I was both relieved and really pissed at the same time.
Me: "Where the F are you??????"
S:"I'm at work, sorry, I should have called you to let you know I was going to work the outbound dock"
Me:"Um, yeah! I was moments from calling the police."
S: "Really? What would you have said?"
Me: "I would have asked them if there were any motorcycle accidents in the area!"
S: "Have you been crying?"
Me: "Not yet!"
S: "Sorry, I worried you. I knew I should have called."

I HATE that feeling!
ReplyDeleteT travels a lot for work and if he doesn't call me the minute he gets into wherever he was heading, I immediately picture a fiery death.
Men can be such idiots! They never think to think that you could be freaking out at home worry over them.
