Winter travel

There is a ton of candy in the office that was brought in as gifts and I just can't seem to stay away from any of it (with the exception of the peanut brittle). But there is fudge--five different kinds, cookies, puppy chow, nuts, trail mix, and my recent favorite--chocolate covered cherries.

I don't complain about the snow often mostly because I get sick of everyone else complaining about it. I'm not a fan of cleaning my car off or driving in it but it is beautiful to look at.

We are just into Winter though and I am restless. I love the little weekend getaways that we take in the Summer and Fall and all the outdoor things that we do. I get absolutely stir crazy once the snow flies. I don't ski or any do any other winter activities, unless the endless amount of shoveling counts.

The last time we had a getaway was in August but that was a two night stay in Lansing for a wedding and we had wedding obligations so not a lot of free time. Still, that was nearly 4 months ago.

So I've been trying to plan a little trip. We love doing the Chicago thing but that gets expensive and we've gone many times in the winter and unless you want to spend a lot of money there's not much to do for free.

I decided to get S tickets to a Red Wings game (hockey) and make it a Christmas/Birthday present. (So shhhhh, he won't get until Christmas). I'll spend a little more on a hotel and we can make an overnight trip out of it. That is still two months away but at least I'll have something to look forward to.
