So the hubby and I have been watching what we eat. We've been good, for the most part. We cut down on our salt intake about a year ago and have done pretty well with that. We started incorporating a wider variety and healthier options.
I recently read that Greek yogurt is better for you then regular yogurt, something we take daily in our lunch. So I thought why not try it. We first tried, in yesterday's lunch, a plain yogurt by Fage (pronounced Fa-yah but we have a different name for it that rhymes with rag) that came with a side car of honey. Blech! Let me tell you had it not been for the honey I could not have choked it down. It had the consistency of sour cream and tasted awful. Today I brought a strawberry flavored Greek Yogurt by Dannon and it was better but not great.
We were good and bought no ice cream with this week's grocery trip. We opted instead for yogurt and frozen fruit. So I dished us up each a serving last night and again---blech!-----the yogurt was nasty. We opted for regular plain yogurt, not Greek, but I think our downfall was the plain when we should have at least got the vanilla flavored. So Scott doctored it up with some vanilla extract and sugar. Eliminating, I'm sure, all the healthful benefits of yogurt.
This all reminds me of the time I accidentally bought collard greens instead of lettuce. I was shopping at a grocery store that I don't frequent too often and was in a hurry. Grabbed what I thought was a bag of lettuce and some other odds and ends and home I went. S and I are eating this "salad" thinking it tasted like dirt, literally. We made it through a good portion of it when I looked at the bag and realized it was collard greens and not lettuce! Oops, it gives us a good laugh every now and then.
