Making a list and checking it twice.

My boss was off today so I was able to spend a good chunk of time at work doing research for our vacation. S was approved by his work to have the last week of July off!! Montana here we come!!

Since I bought the Entertainment Book again this year I wanted to see what kind of deals we could get for the car rental and hotel stays.

I also wanted to see where a good stopping point would be for the trip out. We can't gauge it on last year since we went in January and the day we left it was a blizzard. We encountered a lot of that during our trip so that really slowed us down. And the first time we went to Montana we flew out. And that is not going to happen again. The cost of flying is atrocious not to mention I'd rather not deal with shoe bombers and all the security hassles.

To fly out there would cost us $600-$700 a piece! To rent a car and drive out there would cost us the price of flying one person out, if not less. It's about a 24 hour drive (during good weather) but if you break the trip up it's not so bad.

I'm thinking of stopping in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on the way out. The city looks really neat and it's about the half way point. And I've never been there! They have a Microtel Inn and it's only $44 to stay with my Entertainment Book discount, you can't beat that with a stick!

When we get out there we are definitely staying at the Galatin Guest House. It is pricier then the hotels but we will make up for it, if not save some mullah by cooking some meals there. And as much as I love eating out, when you are on vacation for a week, let me tell ya, it gets real old. And expensive.
