We made our 9th annual trip to Michigan International Speedway. (I know I said 8th in an earlier post but I miscalculated). We arrived around 11:00 Saturday, set up camp, then headed over to the track.
Pros:
Only about 10 minutes of rain that was more refreshing then annoying.
We found some great purchases at the merchandise trailers.
Food was great.
Cons:
I got sunburned despite it being heavily clouded over.
Food was messy
The short rain stint delayed the race for a bit to dry the track.
After the truck race we went back to the campground. We each claimed a spot in the shade and did not move. The camp store luckily had lotion with aloe in it to help soothe my sunburn and I slathered myself in it.
We enjoyed jello shots and some cocktails after hydrating with water all afternoon. Once the sun went down and things cooled off we made a fire and cooked up some dinner.
Sunday we packed up all our gear and got over to the track around 11:00. We made the long trek over to our seats and grabbed some lunch. And again enjoyed some great food. No rain, mostly cloudy, cooler and no rain. Weather was much better then Saturday. The race was kind of boring but a driver we like won the race!
We picked up our dog on the way home. We unloaded the truck and enjoyed nice long, cool showers! (Due to constant long lines at the campground Saturday night we did not get a shower like we had hoped for!) Made ravioli for dinner (something quick), sat for a few, then off to bed. Despite my sunburn I slept like a rock!
