So very glad to have the month of May and first weekend in June done and over with.
Friday night we had our dance rehearsal. I was extremely nervous for this being that the owner is not exactly organized. The sound and light people (three high schoolers) decided that reading the notes the Owner had given them were not necessary. So none of our music was cut or faded out like it was supposed to be. NICE. A few other minor glitches.
Saturday afternoon we had our recital. Again it went pretty smoothly. Especially for the studio's first year. My job was to line all the classes up and get them to the side of the stage. And then also to assist my classes.
One mother who decided to sit in the waiting room until I lined her daughter's class up, second to last, felt the need EVERY time I went in the waiting area to ask me what number we were on. This drove me crazy! Hmmmm let's see I just told you we were on seven so now we are on eight. Good grief cut the strings and go watch the show!
The poor hubby had to work the door which ended up being a nightmare for him. Checking tickets and helping people find their seats was okay. It was the: only opening the doors in between numbers that got him yelled at a few times. People did not want to wait if they wanted in and out they wanted it NOW.
It was also extremely hot in the auditorium since the school would not turn the air conditioning on. This led to some crabby people and a wave of hot air every time the door opened. S was not pleased and I have a feeling he will not be helping out again.
Sunday was awesome. The hubby and I went down to Festival for several hours. Watched some dances, a couple of bands, and ate some terrific food. The Italian booth is our absolute favorite and go there first every year. We tried something new this year and got a dish at the Bosnian tent. I couldn't tell you what it was called now, some funny name, but it was really good.
