A work story from Thursday. Too crazy not to share.
A clerk working the front counter took a phone call from a customer. He told her that his wife had her wedding gown cleaned in 1993 and after we shipped it to them they never opened it. (We shipped all gowns back then). Now he is claiming that we sent him the wrong dress and this one is blue! So he wants to speak to a manager.
So I take the call after going back and talking to one of the owners (it was a day full of crazy customer situations so this kind of topped it off). I told him that it had been 17 years and that there was nothing we could do for him and our records don't even go back that far. He said that his wife died in 2001 and his daughter was going to wear this dress for her wedding. He wanted to bring the box and dress to the office along with the picture of her dress and show us it wasn't the right one. I told him regardless that there was NOTHING we could do this many years later. He said he was going to do something about this. Whatever that means.
After later talking to the plant supervisor and another owner they said that back then the box window and tissue paper were blue! So we have a feeling that this guy never took the gown out of the box and was looking through the blue window thinking he got a blue dress. Because seriously there are some ugly gowns out there but I've never seen a blue dress. And for 1993 that was probably unheard of.

I love that he said he was "going to do something about this." Vigilante justice!
ReplyDeleteAnd what, really, did he expect you to do? Fish out the "real" dress from the number of ones you have clearly have stashed in your back room? Odd.
What a dork! Leave it to a man....
