My brother and his girlfriend are getting married on June 18th. I'll call them Cowboy and Cowgirl for the sake of anonymity.
Cowgirl is a nurse and works the awful 12 hour shifts that nurses work. On top of raising a four year old son and running the household (they have horses, ducks, dogs) while Cowboy is on the road. Cowboy works for the PBR, Professional Bull Riding, traveling town to town. Driving truck, sitting up the equipment and working the gate during the shows.
I offered to throw her a bridal shower for our side of the family. I ordered the cutest invitations and after buying and setting up a new printer yesterday I got them all printed up and ready to mail. A couple of aunts and my grandma offered to help me with the shower too. So the shower is next month and I've been busy planning for that.
Meanwhile, I've been offering suggestions and trying to help Cowgirl with the wedding planning. It seems no one is willing to put forward any effort to help her, with the exception of my mom and I.
The other day she called and asked me and S to be Mistress and Masters of Ceremony. I couldn't say no, okay I can't say no to anything, and gladly accepted.
They have a lot of property so they are getting married outdoors at their house and also hosting the reception there. She rented a tent, table, chairs. Her parents are making all the food for the pig roast. (I can't imagine cooking for around 100 people!) She got rid of the DJ and wants to just have music on an Ipod and use the deck for a dance floor. I was nice and offered to take care of the music. S and I are also purchasing a keg and my parents are picking up a second one. In addition I somehow roped myself into making the maps to include with the invitations.
I don't mind helping her out and it is enjoyable, although sometimes overwhelming. I like everything to be perfect and worry about not being able to come through on something.
